I am a professor of physics in the insitute for Gravitational and Subatomic Physics (GRASP) at Utrecht University. My group and I work in the ALICE experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. In collisions of heavy-ions we create matter at extreme densities and temperatures. This matter we study to learn more about Quantum Chromodynamics and the properties of the early universe a few microsecond after the Big Bang.
